14 Jan 10 Small Changes to Make this January
With a new year comes new resolutions. Here at instinct we wanted to focus on small changes that we can sustain to help us lead healthier and happier lives in 2022! Here are some of our suggestions:
- Practice Gratitude
Andie’s top tip is to put some time aside each day to handwrite three things that you are grateful for, plus three tasks for the day ahead to put you in a positive and proactive mindset.
- Early-bird Catches the Worm
Whilst it might sound hellish to some of us, Grace suggests that waking up just 15-30 minutes early can allow yourself to ease into the day and have a slower morning to yourself before work!
- Healthy Body, Healthy Mind
Sometimes all we want to do is lie in bed and watch Netflix, but moving about each day releases key endorphins, promoting a better mood! Whether it’s a quick lunchtime walk, a spot of yoga in the evening or gym class, get some movement into your daily routine.
- Food Planning
Leonie’s small change idea is to get ahead of the week by planning your meals in advance. This will allow you to waste less food produce and save money too, by only buying ingredients that you need.
- Go Paperless
At instinct, we have stopped using the office printer in a bid to save paper and keep everything digital. Try printing less and emailing more!
- Knowledge is Power
Adding reading into your daily or weekly routine gives you time to unwind, whilst also building on your knowledge. We love the GoodReads app to set reading challenges for the year!
- Be More Mindful
We all need a way to switch off from the day! Zoe suggests that getting into the habit of practicing mindfulness, from breathing exercises to journaling, mindfulness is a great way to stay present and relax before bed.
- Reduce Your Carbon Footprint
Why not share a lift, get the bus, or if you are lucky enough try walking to work! Switching out driving to public transport or walking can be a little switch you make to do your bit for the planet.
- Stay Hydrated
If Dry January might be too much of a challenge, Anna has decided to focus on drinking more water! It can do wonders for your mind and body. Aim to get approximately 2 litres each day.
- Go Flexi
We know committing to Veganuary is a big undertaking! How about dipping your toe in this month with a flexitarian diet, we’re loving M&S’s recipes for easy plant-based swaps.
