Plymouth Gin Gets Fishy with Mark Hix

It’s certainly been an exciting month for iconic South West craft gin brand Plymouth Gin, who partnered with world renowned seafood chef Mark Hix (another South West native), to host two virtual cook-a-longs. We wanted to spread the word that Plymouth Gin is the perfect gin to pair with seafood, with its smooth and citrus led taste.

The first of our virtual cook-a-longs brought the taste of the Great British coastline to the homes of select press and influencers, from celebrity chef Sabrina Ghayour to Masterchef champion Thomas Frake. Our attendees received all their fish and cocktail ingredients ahead of the session, with fish supplied by Call4Fish, a network of responsible suppliers based in the South West. Our attendees were privy to Mark’s culinary expertise, as he guided them through a two-course fish supper; a delicious mackerel ceviche and trio of poached fish. Meanwhile, Plymouth Gin’s resident bartender, Luke Vardy, showed them how to make two gin cocktails to perfectly compliment the courses, a classic Aromatic G&T and a zesty Fresh Gimlet.

Following a successful press event, we hosted a second cook-a-long to 50 eager consumers, who were encouraged to ask Mark and Luke all their burning questions. The cocktails and dishes went down a treat, and we’re sure no-one will be denying that Plymouth Gin is the best fish accompaniment!
